Obituary of Joan Elaine Hamilton

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our Mother,"Joanie" Hamilton, 80, of Saint John NB. on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, surrounded by her family at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Joan was born on July 30th, 1932, the 8th of 10 children, to Celia (Wood) & Peter James. With her children grown, Joan ventured out into the work force, first at Willett Fruit and then to Loch Lomond Villa, where she retired after 21 years. She enjoyed her quiet retirement with bus trips to Halifax, flea markets and Bingo nights with her very good friend Joanie MacNeill, but it was her family that brought her the most joy. Joan will be truly missed by her son Brian (Kim Greene), Quispamsis, N.B., daughter Sharon Hudson (Rock), grandchildren Kim Hill (Cory), Kelly Johnson(Glen), great grandchildren Connor, Cohen, Carly, Zach and Chloe , Grand-Bay/Westfield, N.B., many nieces and nephews. Joan also had a special place in her heart for nephew, Raymond James (Donna) whom she helped raise and loved like a son. She will be deeply missed by her cat "Kitty Boo". She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank, granddaughter Carrie Hudson, and brothers Otis, Earl, Allan, Lewis, Peter and Ralph, sisters Dorothy, Pappy and Glady. Joan was the last surviving member of her immediate family and will be dearly missed for her warm smile, quick wit and dry humour. The family would like to thank Mike, Donna & Staff at Serenity Cove Special Care Home in Nerepis, NB for the wonderful care in making Joan feel like she was home. Also, we would like to thank the 4BS & 4BN nursing staff at the SJRH for the care and kindness given to Joan during her brief illness. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road. As per Joan’s request, there will be no visitation held. The funeral service will be held on Monday, Dec. 3rd, 2012 at 11:00 am at Brenan’s Bay View Chapel, with reception to follow. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint John Animal Rescue League. Personal condolences to the family maybe made through www.brenansFH.com
