Obituary of Laura Evelyn MacNamara

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Laura Evelyn (Sterritt) MacNamara, wife of the late John C. MacNamara, which occurred on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Bayview Special Care Home, Kars, NB. Born on August 31, 1921 in Glenwood, Kings Co, NB, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Gertrude (Hamilton) Sterritt. Laura was a member of the A.C.W. and Institute for many years and played the organ at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Oak Pt. Laura is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Gary) Johnson of Brown’s Flat, NB; her grandchildren, Mary-Lou Slipp (Ralph Lawson), Freeman (Joyce) McKay, Marlene (James) Cookson, Karen (Scott) Scovil, Eric Johnson, Rosanne (Harry) Thomson, Donna (Jeff) Urquhart; and thirteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Stephen Ashford; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by daughter Joan and son-in-law, Robert (Bob) McKay; sister, Gladys Ashford; brother and sister-in-law, Freeman and Juanita Sterritt; nephews, Dougie and Gerry Ashford; niece, Lynn Sterritt-Copp. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (634-7425) with visiting on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Oak Pt. on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place in St. Paul’s Anglican Church Cemetery Oak Pt.. For those who wish remembrances to St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund, Extra Mural Program (Sussex) or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
