Obituary of Albert Paul Gogan

With heavy hearts, the family of Albert P. Gogan, loving husband of Laurette (Paré) Gogan, announce his passing on June 11, 2017. Albert was born on December 23, 1929, the 13th child of Paul and Natalie (Bourque) Gogan. He was the youngest and last remaining member of his immediate family. Albert and Laurette had many wonderful years at their home on Greenhead Road until Albert built "Mum" her dream home overlooking the Bay of Fundy. They enjoyed his retirement years RVing through Canada and the US. Albert was a member of the Monday Night Poker Club, the Welsford Golf Club and past President of the Fairville Old Timers Pool Club on Wednesday nights. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying many years at the camp in Musquash. Albert was a talented and masterful woodworker and his workshop was the envy of many. He retired from Irving Pulp & Paper as a Supervisor after 46 years. In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Laurette, Albert is also survived by their four daughters: Holly Reid (Rob), Susan Arsenault (Paul), Denise Leger (Mitchell) and Gail Kingston (Larry); eight grandchildren: Shanna Higgins (Brad), Erin Gay (Damian), Julie Reid (Lee Morrell), Justin Arsenault (Naschelly), Lauren Arsenault (Cody), Spencer Arsenault, Paige Thibodeau (Trever) and Marisa Kingston (Curtis Green); eight great-grandchildren: Alexis, Reese, Avri, Harlow, Peyton, Beckham, Parker and Griffin; nephew and best friend, Frank Perry and several special nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his great-grandson, Bennett Gay; seven brothers: Ernest, Frank, Bill, Edmund, Henry, Leo and Edgar; as well as five sisters: Lena, Dorothy, Eliza, Zelda and Mary. Dad was a true family man of strong faith; generous, kind and full of dry humour. In his memory, pay a kindness forward and bring a smile to someone’s face. "Be good". Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose of Lima Church, 541 Milford Road, West Saint John on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. A private interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to the SJRH Extra Mural Program or Bobby’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
