Obituary of Ruthann Lois Shannon

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruthann "Ruthie" Lois Shannon(Moffatt), announces her passing, which occurred at home on December 1, 2016. Born in Saint John, NB on May 30, 1953 she was a daughter of the late Fred and Lois Moffatt. Ruthie loved spending time with her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she took every opportunity to spend time with them. She had a kind heart and had a soft spot for cats. In her younger years, Ruthann, could often be found at the bowling lanes. She also enjoyed walking and shopping. Ruthie is survived by her sons: Mark Shannon (Nikki Gabriel) and Scott Shannon (Angela); daughters: Christine Shannon (Steven Corkum) and Natalie Shannon (Matthew Haley); grandchildren: Michael James, Cody Shannon, Kelsey Martin, Brianna Martin, Madyson Shannon, Justin Shannon, Annika Shannon, Ben Shannon and Marissa Shannon; great-grandchildren: Teagan, Caleb, Italie, Cailyn and Aiden; brother, John Moffatt (Heather-Anne). She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Besides her parents, Ruthann is predeceased by her sister Joan Moffatt and special friend David Foley. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 2 – 4 PM and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 12:00 noon. Donations in Ruthie’s memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the SPCA- Animal Rescue League.
