Obituary of Ronald Douglas Parks

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ron Parks, loving husband to Winnie (Gaynes) Parks, announces his passing which occurred on November 2, 2016 at the Loch Lomond Villa, with his family by his side. Born on March 11, 1930, Ron was a son to the late William and Rose (Cummings) Parks. Ron was employed with Sears Canada for 25 years. He spent his free time as a member of the Knights of Columbus #8094, the Dry Dock Royals Hockey Team and the Saint John Jr. Maroons Hockey Team. Ron also loved hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling and camping at TNT. Above all, Ron cherished the time he spent with his family; his wife Winnie, with whom he spent the last 62 years, and their 7 children who will fondly remember how he made them laugh, and the jokes he used to play. Ron is survived by his wife, Winnie, their children: Patty (Greg) Fennell, Ronald (Linda) Parks Jr., Sharon (Richard) Manuel, Judy (Brian) MacFarland, Dorothy (Carol "Joe") Mallet, Michael (Susan) Parks and Kelly (Andrew) Murray, his 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, his brother Eddie (Flo) Parks, along with several nieces, nephews and members of his extended family. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his brothers: Donald and Raymond Parks and sister, Doreen Kelly. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) where visitation will be held on Friday, November 4 from 2-4 and 6-8. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, November 5 at 12:00 PM from Our Lady of the Assumption, 360 Dufferin Row with interment to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or to the Arthritis Society of New Brunswick.
