Obituary of Ferne Marie McCavour

The death of Ferne McCavour of Grand Bay-Westfield, beloved wife of the late Stephen McCavour occurred on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born on September 29, 1941 in Fowler’s Corner, Queen’s County, NB, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Winnifred (Spears) Ogden. Ferne was married in 1959 to Stephen Lewis McCavour and became a stay at home mom for 16 years. After raising her family, she began a satisfying career in computer services at Canadian Red Cross Blood Services, retiring in 1996. Ferne and Steve spent 12 years of happy retirement together, enjoying their grandchildren, their church and their many "projects". Ferne is survived by her daughter, Jacklyn Lohnes (David); sons, Stephen Andrew McCavour (Donna Stephens) and Jeffrey McCavour (Cheryl Smith); daughter-in-law, Judith McCavour (Kyle); eight grandchildren, Hannah Lohnes, Valeria Stephens, Stephen Lorn and Rosalie McCavour, Brett, Caitlin and Erin McCavour and Shilo McCavour; sister, Phyllis Gilliland (Mac); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her by her son, Guy; brother, Eddie Ogden and sister, Ann MacFarland. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John (634-7425), with visiting on Saturday, August 6, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 2:00 PM. A private interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Lorneville United Church, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or CNIB.
