Obituary of Francesca Scichilone

Scichilone, Francesca "Franca" It is with heavy hearts that the family of Francesca "Franca" Scichilone, loving wife of the late Joe Scichilone, announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, with her family by her side. She was born on February 26, 1933 in Aragona, Italy and was a daughter of the late Raimondo and Giuseppina (Licata) Mirasola. Franca came to Canada in 1949. She was employed with Sears Canada for 35 years and was a parishioner of St. Rose de Lima church. She was a professional seamstress and she also enjoyed gardening, embroidery and pottery. Franca enjoyed the finer things in life, like music, art, and culture. She was a lady of class, acceptance, generosity and forgiveness, she will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her for the angel of a mother who she is. Franca is survived by her daughter Rosalia (Rosita) Scichilone (William Hachey), her brother Franco (Teresa) Mirasola, her sisters: Alfonsina DeGiacamo, Pierina Scichilone, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins from all over the globe. Besides her parents and husband, Joe, Franca is predeceased by her sisters, Guisippina Licata, Sarina Cipolla and Concettina Cipolla; and many caring and loving cousins. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425) where visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 31 at 12:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church, 541 Milford Road. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
