Obituary of Thomas Robert Lingley

It is with great sadness the family of Thomas Robert Lingley announce his passing, which occurred on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on August 21, 1949 in New Waterford, Cape Breton to the late Harold "Harry" and Jessie (Arnott) Lingley. Tom worked as a front desk receptionist at the Howard Johnson Hotel. He was very passionate about hotels and worked right up until the last few months of his life. He was also an avid bowler and a member of the Saint John Regional Hospital bowling league. He was a social butterfly, a sarcastic, fun loving jokester, and loved to dance. He could usually be found sipping a Tim Horton’s coffee. Above all, he was loyal to his family, compassionate, generous, a great friend and an amazing father. Tom is survived by his spouse Charlene Smith; son Shaun Lingley (Amber Lenihan); siblings, Doris (Stephen) Frenette and Allan Lingley; and several nieces. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Donnie and sister Helen "Joanne". Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7425) with visitation on Sunday, March 27, 2016 from 6-8 PM. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Tom may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, SJRH Palliative Care or a charity of the donor’s choice.
