Obituary of Cecil Alvin O'Dell

The death of Cecil O’Dell of Summerville, husband of Agnes (Palmer) O’Dell occurred on Friday, September 11, 2015 at his home. Born on May 29, 1926 in Clover Hill, Kings County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Florence (Tribe) O’Dell. Cecil was known for his strong work ethic and prior to his retirement, he was employed with the Department of Transportation. He always treasured the times spent with those he loved and especially enjoyed the times with his grandchildren who were his world. In addition to his wife of nearly 46 years, Cecil is also survived by his son, Stephen Melanson (Sherry) of Hardings Point; daughters, Linda MacFarlane of Millidgeville, Lori Campbell of Hardings Point and Lisa O’Dell of Summerville; sister, Doris Charest of Hardings Point; precious grandchildren, Matt, Mark, Sarah, Jason, Michael, Karlie, Kali, Jeremy and Jonathan; special great-grandson, Ethan; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his son, Greg; daughter-in-law, Laura and brothers, Lloyd, Clinton, Ronald and Millan. Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John (634-7425) with visiting on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in Hardings Point Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Kennebecasis Valley Extra Mural.
