To Marg, Brad, Mark and the DeLong families - what a wonderful tribute to such a kind person who lived life fully and touched countless lives. Our many trips from New Hampshire to Saint John included visits with our extended family, including travels up the Kennebecasis and the Sussex drive-in. Please accept our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to you all at this time of sorrow.

Mr.Delong was my Drafting teacher in 1985 at Saint John Vocational School. I was a Business student and for some strange reason other courses were full so I had to take an Industrial Class. I was only one of a couple of girls with all other classmates being males. To this day I remember Mr.Delong having such understanding and patience with me, you were a great teacher. Rip Mr.Delong .. Godspeed.

I am deeply saddened by the news of Don DeLong's passing. Don was a treasured mentor to me in high school (Saint John Vocational 1981-1983), and the gifts of knowledge he instilled in me are still with me today. I had the privilege of working on many projects with Don during high school beyond the regular curriculum, creating architectural drawings for others. He even set up my first interview for me, which would turn into a 26 year career! Don was incredibly intelligent, caring, and sharp witted. It was easy to see that he loved teaching. My father, Jack, also had Don for a teacher at Vocational. I remember telling my dad that I was going to have Mr. DeLong as my teacher, and how excited he was for me, as Don was an excellent instructor! I always loved running into Don (and Margaret) and getting 'caught up'. This amazing man impacted my life tremendously and I will always be thankful to him for taking an interest in me, and I know this is true for many, many others. Prayers and Blessings Kevin Perry

Dear Brad, Sue, Robyn and families - it was with sadness that I read of your Dad's/Grandfather's passing in this mornings paper. I had the pleasure of chatting with him on more than one occasion and he was always so interested in what was going on and always had a quick come back and saw humor in many situations.....which clearly supported Brad's love of pranks!! I know you are a close family so the loss of Don will be felt deeply by you all. I hope your many happy memories will warm your heart and keep him close always. As we're heading off to NS today I won't be able to pay my respects on Wednesday so please know that I'm thinking of you all at this sad time. Lynn

I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I am a 1961 graduate from Voc and had 'Mr. Delong' as a homeroom teacher for 3 years. Sometimes I would run into Don when he came to Highfield Square in Moncton. He was always interested in how his students were making out. I often wondered in the last few years when visiting SJ if he was still around. 'Well done Don'

I was saddened to hear of Don's passing. There are many people who loved and respected Don, and I was just one among the many. He had such a wonderful way of making people feel that they really mattered. Always a smile and a kind word. He enjoyed, equally, good conversation and a good laugh. I have fond memories of days-gone- by on Scribner Crescent and at the Sussex Drive-In and Campground, of happy times and sad ones, shared among friends. It has been a few years since I saw Don; but, the years are only separated by distance, for I often think of him -- of some quick-witted remark he would make that he would make me buckle over with laughter. He was every bit the sage, with an infectious wit and laugh; but, his greatest gift to all of us was his generosity of spirit. He was simply a wonderful person, a forever friend and there will always be a special place in my heart for him. I am the better for having known him: I only wish I could be with you all at this very sad time. Loving remembered and in deepest sympathy. As ever, Murdock

I have such fond memories of Don from the time I was a little girl. I remember visiting Saint John in the summers with the aunts and staying with Uncle Stanley at that old Orange Street house. It was always a big occasion when the family got together, for me to see my cousins and to have some of delicious treats that Marg always seemed to have on hand. I will always remember his kind heart, smile and laughter. He did have a wicked sense of humour! At a time like this, I know that words cannot convey how sad his passing is for all of you as he loved you all so much, but it is also sad for those of us who knew him as well. As I said to Brad, his father was the pride of the DeLong family and always will be. You were so blessed to have him as part of your lives for so many years, many people are not as fortunate. May he rest in peace.
