Obituary of Phyllis Elizabeth Darling

It is with great sadness that the family announce the death of Phyllis Elizabeth (Hoyt) Darling of Hammond River, New Brunswick, which occurred Friday June 26, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Phyllis was born on November 16, 1927 in Lower Norton, New Brunswick, only daughter of Helen and Jack Hoyt. She was a lifelong member and tireless worker for Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Hammond River, New Brunswick. She was married 60 years to the love of her life, John Darling, who predeceased her in 2011. She was a teacher, mother and friend, whose hospitality was legendary. No one left her house without the offer of at least tea and cookies. After raising her children, she became an avid quilter, as a member of the Kennebecasis Valley Quilting Guild, the Calico Quilters at Holy Trinity, and also as the hostess of “John’s Girls”, a weekly gathering at her home for needlework, food and laughter. She is survived by her children, Jackalyn Darling (John Foster), and Dale Darling (Steve Coughlan), and two grandchildren, Liam and Genevieve, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother James and her infant daughter Wendy. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, with visiting on Monday from 3:00 - 8:00 PM . Funeral Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 2 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church (Current Fund), Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation or your local animal shelter.
