Obituary of Charles Jospeh Damery
Charles Joseph Damery passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Charles was born on April 2, 1952 in Saint John, NB to the late Charles and Helen (Barry) Damery.
Charles is survived by his sister Margaret (Henry) Gionet of Saint John, brother Robert Damery of Calgary, cousins; Don and Joann Conway, Pat and Kathy Conway, and Peter and Nancy Conway, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Charles is predeceased by his aunt and uncle Veronica and Don Conway, who raised him after his parents passed at a young age, and his son Kenneth Badeau.
Charlie spent 17 years working in the Canadian Armed Forces. He built ice bridges in the Artic, repaired planes and helicopters, and was stationed in Germany for 5 years during conflict; during this time he was injured leading him to retire. Upon retirement Charlie moved to British Columbia to spend time with his son before his passing. Charlie then moved back to Saint John to be closer to his sister and her family.
Charlie loved Nascar. He collected stats on his favourite drivers and memorabilia over the years. Charlie also loved cats, so much so that at one time he had 5.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Keeping with Charlie’s wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Charlie’s memory can be made to the Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
