Obituary of Gerald Matthews Shaw

Gerald ‘Jerry’ Matthews Shaw passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, with family by his side. Jerry was born on July 20, 1944 in Saint John, NB to the late Cedrick and Lois (Matthews) Shaw.

Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife of 55 years, Lois (Estabrooks), son Brad Shaw (Heather) and daughter Stacey Shaw (Kevin), grandchildren; Julia and Ben Shaw, sister Jackie Clark, nieces and nephews; Shelley Clark-Collins, Brian Shaw and Sandra Shaw, special friends Doug Bradley and George Perry and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Jerry was predeceased by his brother Frank Shaw.

Jerry was a true Westsider and loved being apart of the community. In earlier years, Jerry enjoyed playing pool at Freddy’s Pool Hall.  He liked going for long walks, watching Sea Dogs Hockey and Alpine Baseball games. Jerry loved traveling, especially his trips down South with Lois, and his fall Football trips with Todd and the boys. 

Jerry spent most of his career working at London Life and he truly enjoyed his job.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Memorial Service will follow immediately at 1:00 PM, with interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Jerry’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the GEM Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital and to Dr. Wilson and staff for all their kindness.
