Obituary of Robert George Vincent
It is with heart felt sorrow, the family of Robert “Bob” George Vincent QC., husband of Barbara (Syrette) Vincent, announce his passing on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on June 27, 1945, in Saint John, he was a son of the late Warren and Elsie Vincent. Bob served with the Department of Justice in Ottawa from 1971 until 1976, when he and Barb made Rothesay their home. He was then employed with Stewart McKelvey, Law Firm for many years until his retirement in 2020. He was a member of the Canadian Bar Association, where he received the Award for Distinguished Service in 2017. He was a member of the Saint John Business Community, the Anti-Poverty Committee, Future Greater Saint John, and the CBA NB. Bob was involved with many organizations and committees, making a difference for the community. He enjoyed sailing, travelling, walking Brutus, the French Bulldog and constant companion and making many memories with his family. Bob will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his loving wife of 54 years, Bob is survived by his daughter Samantha “Sam” Vincent (Allan Peacock) of England, sister Nancy Vincent of Alberta, Phil Vincent, and Don Vincent (Margot) both of Fredericton, step-grandson Campbell MacNeil of Scotland, cousin Karen Sanders (Jim) of Manitoba, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family wishes a heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the many doctors, and friends that Bob received care from during his illness.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). A Celebration of Bob’s life will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of Bob can be made to the YMCA Summer Camp Program, Saint John SPCA or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
