Obituary of Carole-Anne Holmes-Lauder
With heavy hearts, the family of Carole-Anne Holmes-Lauder announce her passing on Monday, October 21, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born December 12, 1945, in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Mona (Mackey) Holmes.
Carole-Anne had a deep love for the iconic Roy Rogers and the crooning cowboys of her youth. She found joy in the nostalgic magic of the old Westerns. Her love of history and admiration for Admiral Lord Nelson and the great age of sail spoke to her curious, adventurous spirit. She was drawn to tales of courage and leadership, always inspired by the strength of those who led by example. She also had a deep-rooted admiration for genealogy and spent countless hours tracing the family's history all the way back to 1066, when Caesar Coakley helped king Harold off the battlefield at Hastings. A tireless volunteer, Carole-Anne dedicated much of her life to uplifting her community. She could always be found lending a helping hand, supporting the NB Museum, and sharing her time and talents to bring people together as a lay minister in the service of the Holy Catholic Church, and the Christopher Leadership Courses. Her boundless energy and giving nature left a lasting impact on the lives she touched. Her legacy of kindness, curiosity, and love for life will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carole-Anne is survived by her children: Edwin Holmes-Lauder, Monica Holmes-Lauder, and Michael Holmes-Lauder (Carly Chevarie); grandchildren: Anna Rivaud, Keaghan Wang, Rowan Holmes-Lauder, and Willow Holmes-Lauder; her sister, Janet Connolly (David), and their children, Michael Connolly (Marsha) and Kathy Charest (Eric) and their families.
Besides her parents, Carole-Anne was predeceased by her aunt, Marjorie; and the father of her children, Robert Holmes-Lauder.
