Obituary of Beverleigh Anita Morgan
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Beverleigh Anita (Shanks) Morgan “Buzzy” age 85 which occurred at the Saint John Reginal Hospital on August 30th, 2024.
Born April 20th, 1939, in Saint John, NB, to the late Harry and Eleanor Shanks. Beverleigh grew up in Glen Falls and started her days in the workplace at Mothers Inn and the Dairy Queen located on Rothesay Ave. She later joined her older sister Hazel and went to work at the King square Credit Jewelers in uptown Saint John. She worked there for many years before she opened her own restaurant and called it “BJ’s” Country Kitchen in Barnesville where she resided. Beverleigh was married to Charles Morgan in August of 1958, and together they started their family and raised four children Richard (Dee Dee) Morgan, Timothy Morgan, Shelley (Peter) Hache, Brenton (Lucrecia) Morgan, and their granddaughter Jana (Chris) Miller as one of their own.
Beverleigh enjoyed her life, she loved being with family, over the years she attended many holiday gatherings. In her younger years you would find her at the annual family reunions in Cambridge Narrows. She especially enjoyed Christmas which was her favorite time of the year. Beverleigh had a big family who she loved very much. She had 9 grandchildren Jana (Chris) Miller, Devin Duplisea (Sarah), Joey Hache (Elizabeth), Katelyn Enos (Nick), Kayla Rowe-Richards (John), Julianna Morgan, Kevin Morgan, Krystal Morgan, Tony Morgan (Stacey), and 14 great-grandchildren. She loved the company of her 2 dogs Leelah and Sophie. In her down time Beverleigh loved to bake, she made lots of sweets for many occasions. She enjoyed helping to prepare suppers the Presbyterian Church and on weekends she would enjoy a good game of cards.
Beverleigh is survived by her daughter Shelley Hache, son Brenton Morgan, and her remaining sister Judy Connell. She is predeceased by her parents Harry and Eleanor Shanks, husband Charles Morgan, sons Richard and Timothy Morgan. Her four brothers Duanne Shanks, Lloyd Shanks, Murray Shanks, and Calvin Shanks and three sisters Hazel Stevens, Sharon Shanks, and Janet Shanks. She is also predeceased by her nephew Brenton Stevens, Tracey Hasselman, and her daughter in law Dee Dee Morgan.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will be held at Brenan’s on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM with interment to follow in Barnesville Cemetery. For those who are unable to attend the funeral service, please join the family via live stream.
