Obituary of Serafina (nee Scichilone) Mattina
It is with sad hearts that the family of Serafina Mattina announce her passing which occurred on August 9th, 2024. Born on December 21st, 1937, in Aragona, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anna Maria (Graceffa) Scichilone.
Serafina loved to spend her early years cooking for the whole family and spending time with her loved ones. She was famous for her green thumb and loved spending time in her garden. One of her favourite things was to garden with her late husband Carmelo and make sauces from the many tomatoes and basil plants they had grown together. Above all else, Serafina loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. From home visits to special outings, she loved getting to spend time with those who called her Nonna. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her and sharing her company would have always felt her love.
Serafina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and was cherished by her children and grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and her church. Serafina is survived by her son, Joe (Teena); daughters, Anna Maria (Kevin) and Josie (Greg) and son-in-law, Earl. Her grandchildren, Florence (Peter), Peter (Chelsea), Julian, Zachary (Alisha), Carmelo (Natasha), Sera (Ryan), Emily and Sam. Great-grandchildren, Trinity, Lily, Julia and Anna.
