Obituary of Bertha Evelyn Mildred Herrington
The death of Bertha (Folkins) Herrington occurred at Shannex – Embassy Hall on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Born September 30, 1927, in Markhamville, Kings Co, NB, to the late Austin and Burdella (McFarlane) Folkins. Bertha was a stay-at-home mother and was a dedicated member of the Church of Christ the King. Bertha enjoyed spending her time outdoors. She loved tending to her flowers, feeding the birds, going for walks, and a good cup of hot tea. Most of all she loved the company of her family who brought her great joy.
Bertha leaves behind her three daughters, Betty Holland (Douglas) of Rothesay, Dianne Courtney of Gagetown, Sheila Cordeau of Saint John; one son, Barry Herrington (Crystal) of Quispamsis; sister, Rowena Hayes (Austin) of Alberta; son-in-law, Douglas Courtney; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and her fur baby, Leo the Cat. In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Walter Herrington; three brothers, Eldred and Ronald Folkins and Everett McFarlane.
The family would like to extend a special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff of Embassy Hall who took such great care of their Mother.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424).
