Obituary of Frances Theora Carr

CARR, Frances Theora, of Saint John West and Fredericton, wife of the late Amberse Carr passed away in Fredericton on April 23, 2014. Born in Poodiac New Brunswick, on June 29, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Allaby) Pollock. Frances is survived by her children, Donna (David) Crowe, Terry (Jenny) Carr both of Fredericton, and Judy (Rod) Crowther of Rothesay; her brother, Norman (Lorraine) Pollock, Sussex, N.B.; her grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, Jeff, James, Caryn and Andrea; her great-grandchildren, Carter, Luke, Kate, Allyson, Sydney, Seth, Preston, Jack, Austin, Beka. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth Pollock, Ronald Pollock and her sisters Gertrude Patterson, Willa Porter, Winnie Bradshaw, Charlotte Pickett, Marie Hodgin, Ruth Campbell, Dorothy Hayes and Betty Taylor. Frances was a member of the Carleton-Kirk United Church where she was also a member of the UCW for over 50 years. She had resided in Saint John West for most of her life and in 2013 moved to Fredericton and resided at Paradise Villa where she always loved to have her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit. Mum loved to play games, especially bridge, was a fabulous cook and, when she was able, she loved to bowl. Several years ago, she took the Red Cross Homemakers Course and was always lending a helping hand to many in need. Mum was a very compassionate person with a very big heart. Mum loved to be with her family and was happiest when they were gathered together and she could cook a big meal for everyone. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held Friday, April 25 from 4pm-8pm, with a funeral service at Carleton-Kirk Church on Saturday, April 26 at 2 pm. A reception will be held in the church hall following the service and internment to take place in Smith Cemetery in Geary, N.B. at a later date. Memorial donations made to the charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
