Obituary of Alice O'Brien

Alice O’Brien, wife of the late Charlie O’Brien, passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home on January 16, 2014. She was born in Saint John on February 15, 1927, a daughter of the late Abel and Domethilde LeBlanc. She is survived by her sons Donald (Libby) and David (Connie) and grandchildren Hayley, Stewart, Patrick, Laura and Julia. Alice is also survived by her sisters Leah O’Keefe of Moncton, Helen Wood (Emile) of Ontario and her brother Abel LeBlanc (Lana) of Saint John, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charlie, infant son Kevin, sisters Cecelia Green, Mary Storey, Barbara Wood and by her brothers Leo LeBlanc and Gerald LeBlanc. Alice was employed at National Drug before raising her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She enjoyed travelling with her husband, Charlie, and was an avid supporter of Charlie’s many sporting activities. Alice took great joy in her grandchildren, and was a generous, kind and loving grandmother. Alice was dearly loved by her family and will be sadly missed. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home for their excellent care of Alice throughout the past few years. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, with visitation on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 7-9pm, and on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius Church on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 9:00am. Interment will take place in the Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at St. Pius Church. For those who wish, remembrances to The Rocmaura Foundation of to a charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
