Obituary of Murray Stevens

Murray "Moe" Davidson Stevens passed away on April 11, 2015. Born in 1931 he was a son of the late Jack and Hazel (Williamson) Stevens. Murray was born in Fairville and went to Fairville Superior School and then to The Saint John Vocational School. He was employed by N.B.Tel as an installer and repairman for 41 years and then he retired. Moe loved to play hockey and football. He was very active in the Masonic Order and was a Master Mason, Past Master of Hibernia Lodge #3, Saint John, Past Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of NB, Past District Superintendent of The Royal Arch Mason, Provincial Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Canada and a member of the Saint John Council Royal and Select Masters. He was also a member of the Red Cross of Counstine, and of K.Y.C.H, High Priest Hood, Past president of Saint John Shrine Club, Luxor Shrine, The Shrine Oriental Band, Telephone Pioneers, Scottish Right, Carleton Union Lodge #8 and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 as well as a member of The Royal Order of Jesters. He is survived by his children, David (Ruth), Bayswater; John (Judy), Saint John; Sara (Al) Sherwood, Bayswater; Helen (Terry) Laite, Quispamsis; James, Calgary; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, he was known as "Grampy Moe" by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Jackie), Saint John; Donald (Margaret) Sussex; several nieces and nephews and special friend Barb Sweet. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Frederick, Kenneth and Ronald and sisters, Shirley, Eva and Edna. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, April 16, form 2-9 pm with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 3 pm, and a Masonic Service at 7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 am from The Church of the Good Shepherd, 668 Manawagonish Road, with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to Luxor Shrine Temple would be appreciated by the family.
