Obituary of C. Malcolm Sullivan

The death of C. Malcolm Sullivan of 310 Woodward Avenue, Saint John, husband of 59 years to Jane P. “Jean” (Moncaster) Sullivan, occurred on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Harry Duncan and Marion Louise (Foster) Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan served as Captain in the Ontario Regiment Tank Corps. during World War II and received the Bronze Cross of Holland. He also authored a book of his wartime experience titled “3 Troop, Fear of Failure”. Malcolm was a past President of the United Way of Greater Saint John, the Saint John Board of Trade a Charter member of SJXA and a Steward and Elder of St. Mark's United Church. He was also a member of the Byng Boys, the Probus Club and was a charter member of the Stoney Run Fishing Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Brian David Sullivan, one daughter, Diane Margaret Mawhinney (Ken) of Riverview, two sisters, Helen Cook of Saint John and Jean McFarlane of Vancouver, BC, two grandchildren, Andrew Douglas Mawhinney (Wendy) of Brampton, ON and Jane Margaret Mawhinney of Riverview, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Royden and Allan. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at 2:15 PM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery.
