Obituary of G. Gordon FitzGerald

The death of Gordon "Champ" FitzGerald, beloved husband of Donna (Mott) FitzGerald of 48 years, occurred on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on June 20, 1941, he was a son of the late Eugene and Gertrude (Tower) FitzGerald. Gordon was a fun-loving, caring, family man. He enjoyed his winters in Florida and traveling with friends. Known for his informal hospitality, his favourite catch-phrase at home was, "fill your boots. What you don’t see, ask for it." He loved playing drums, and listening to Elvis, and even had the opportunity to enjoy an Elvis impersonator at a recent birthday party. In addition to his wife, Donna, Gordon is survived by his children; Lana (Ed) of Wake Forest, NC, Lance (Susan) of Saint John, and Leanne (Dereck) of Grand Bay Westfield, grandchildren; Kristen (Shane), Brad, Jorden, Mackenzie, William, Ben and Katie; 5 great grandchildren, siblings; Eugene (Agnes) of St. John’s, June of Saint John, Heather of Riverview, Faith of Saint John, Victor (Kaye) of Saint John and Clark (Kay) of Saint John. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers; Larry and Terry; brothers-in-law; Len, Oliver and Reg and sister-in-law Anna. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, July 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Rose of Lima Church on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 11am. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday at 11:00 am. For those who wish, donations to the SPCA Animal Rescue League or Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
