Obituary of Virgina Pauline Fisher

Surrounded by members of her loving family, Virginia, "Dinny", passed peacefully on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Orchard View Long Term Care Facility, Gagetown, NB, her home the last four years, having lived with dementia the last ten. She was born in Marysville, NB, to the late Hugh Arthur and Clara Louise (Thornton) Gailey, May, 1922. Mum married, loving forever, her high school sweetheart, Gordon R.D. Fisher in May 1942, who predeceased her too soon in 1984. She was also predeceased by her beloved brother, Hugh (Sonny) Gailey and dear sister-in-law, Francis (Wade) and great grandchild Logan William Allan. She was the last surviving member of her family. While dad served overseas she worked on the home front in many ways. Mum was a creative and talented writer who chose as her most important vocation to stay at home to raise four children. Mum’s legacy of wit, writing, voracious reading, acting in amateur theater, cooking, entertaining, love of travel, love of movies and an active Christian in many church activities, is shared invarious manifestations across the family tree in the passions of her children, Michael (Lucille), Leslie (Stuart) Allan, Mark (Patti) and Clare McLean, as well as grandchildren: Michael, Catherine, Christopher, Holly, Matthew, Rebecca, Peter, Caitlin, Megan, Kailey, Darcy, Jessica and Geordie and her cherished five nieces, the "Gailey Girls", Gillian, Janet, Beverly, Lorraine and Michelle. Sharing lovingly in her life also were Marjorie Long Fisher and Shawn McLean. She leaves thirteen great grandchildren to grow and find their own passions. A memorial service will be officiated by her son-in-law, The Ven. Stuart Allan at her beloved All Saints Church in Marysville, NB at a later date. The family wishes to express genuine love and gratitude to Orchard View staff for the incredible respect and tender care Mum received during her last years, and the tender loving care we as a family were given throughout her last hours she was with us .May all who require professional services experience the capacity of care of the professional heart that Mum and her family experienced. Memorials offered to All Saints Anglican Church in Marysville, NB, Orchard View Long Term Care in Gagetown NB, or charities of choice would be received by the family with gratitude.
