Obituary of Susan Louise Trites

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Susan Louise Trites of Saint John, which occurred on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Susan was born in Saint John on June 17, 1948, the daughter of the late Neil and Mary Violet (Bamford) Trites. She is survived by her husband, David Farrah; sister Norah Prior (John) of Markham, Ontario; nephew Michael (Nadine) and great niece Violet of Toronto; her aunt, Eileen Weir (William) of Moncton; her uncle, Ralph Trites of Moncton; many cousins, and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by several aunts and uncles. Susan was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School, St. Thomas University, and the University of New Brunswick. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling teaching career at Bayside Junior, Beaconsfield, and St. Vincent’s High School. Her first job was in the Children’s Department of the Saint John Free Public Library, which fostered her great love of books and reading, and she passed this love on to her students. Susan had a special gift for making friends while pursuing her interest in art, culinary, and antiques. She was instrumental in establishing a Heritage Designation in the Douglas Avenue of the city. Susan also enjoyed animals, especially bird watching, gardening, and sailing. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, June 26, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 12:00 Noon from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
