Obituary of F. Floyd Thompson

Frank Floyd Thompson of Saint John passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, following a period of failing health. Born in Economy, Nova Scotia on August 11, 1936, he was a son of the late Fred and Jennie (Dillman) Thompson. Floyd was a journeyman carpenter by trade, and in his spare time enjoyed reading, playing horseshoes and cards, and was a nearly undefeated cribbage player. He always had a great sense of humour and enjoyed telling jokes, but most important to him was time spent with his family. Floyd was also an avid sports fan. Floyd is survived by his children, Jeff Thompson (Sandy) of Kitchener, ON, Kevin Smith (Crystal) of Saint John, Allan Smith of Saint John, Heather Thompson (Eugene Radcliffe) of Saint John, and Heidi Thompson (George Angelopoulos) of Rothesay; a brother, Murray Thompson (Dorothy) of Saint John; a sister, Doreen Dyment (Wendell) of Mount Pleasant, PE; six step-children; the mother of his children, Alice Smith of Saint John; nine grandchildren; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Floyd was predeceased by a brother, Wendell Thompson. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
