Obituary of Nesta M. V. Finlayson

Surrounded by her loving family, the death of Nesta Finlayson, wife of the late David Finlayson occurred on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Bobby’s Hospice. She was born on May 4, 1932 in Saint John to the late Jack and Mildred (Seely) Foote. Nesta graduated from Saint John High School in 1949, and took a secretarial course at Modern Business College. After working at NBTel, she took a position with a firm in Quebec City. She moved to Montreal where she met her future husband, David. Later they moved to Toronto where her son, David was born. David was to become a source of comfort and support to his mother in her later years. Eventually they moved back to Saint John. Nesta and her husband were the owners of DL Finlayson Ltd.; she also worked as a stenographer for a number of years in banks. Nesta was a member of Trinity Anglican Church and the Chi Rio Club. She is survived by her son, David Finlayson (Darlene Almon) of Saint John; brother, Stephen (Virginia) of Saint John; sisters: Nerdras Geri of Burnaby, BC and Iris Foote of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Besides her beloved husband and parents, Nesta was predeceased by an infant brother and an infant sister. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held from Trinity Anglican Church, 116 Princess Street on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Mosher Hill Cemetery, St. Martins. For those who wish, remembrances to Trinity Anglican Church or the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
