Active in his community, Fred was involved with the Hibernia Masonic Lodge, Knights of Pythias, Canadian Merchant Navy Association, Royal Order of Wharfrats and the Blue Knights Inc. (Law Enforcement) Motorcycle Club. He had a love of God and was a member of Portland United Church where he was active in the church choir, men's club and where he served as an Elder. Fred's greatest love was for his wife Frances with whom he celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary this past August. He is also survived by daughter Margaret Cobham-Mollins and her husband Eric, grandson Shawn Mollins and his wife Brenda (Maynard) and great-grandson Spencer, grandson Shane Mollins and his wife Connie (O'Hearon). Daughter Donalda Bradley and her husband Dan, grandson Ryan Bradley and his wife Tracy (Clark) and granddaughter Kimberley and her companion Patrick Russell. Daughter Valerie Cobham-Richards and her husband Bruce and grandchildren David and Catherine. Visitation will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A service of celebration for Fred's life will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 11:00 AM from Portland United Church, followed by a reception in the church hall. A private family burial will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Fred loved boating on our beautiful waterways, so if desired, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to a memorial fund, in Fred's memory, to the "Junior Sailing Program" at the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club. The fund will be used to award annually the "Sailor of the Year" in the Junior Sailing Program. www.brenansfh.com
