Obituary of George Edward Keirstead

George Edward Keirstead of Saint John, husband of the late Marlene Doris (Simmons) Keirstead, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born at Saint John on December 6, 1935, he was a son of the late Judge Reginald D. Keirstead and Hazel Caroline (Sharp) Keirstead. George worked as a building inspector for the City of Saint John, retiring in 1994. He enjoyed photography and computers, always keeping up with the latest versions, and was an avid outdoorsman in his younger years. George was always very proud of his grandchildren, and was keenly interested in all their activities. George is survived by his children, Susan Cummings (Dwight) of Bloomfield, Kings County, and John Keirstead (Nicole) of Lake Loon, Nova Scotia; his grandchildren, Justin Cummings, Jeffrey Cummings, Simone Keirstead, and Johnathan Keirstead; his sister, Betty Angevine (David) of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, George was predeceased by his sister, Jeanette Benson, and by his brother, David Keirstead. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
