Obituary of E. Ruth Nesbitt

Ruth Nesbitt passed away peacefully after a courageous two year battle with cancer on Thursday, January 19th at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 18th, 1933 in St. Andrews N.B., she was the daughter of the late Melbourne and Elise Scott, wife of the late Martin (Buster) Nesbitt. She was a loving mother of three sons; Travis (Jacki), Troy (Krista), Shane (Lori) and seven grandchildren Brianne, Tonya, Morgan, Riley, Carter, Sarah, and Sydney. She will be missed by her many close friends. She was predeceased by sister, Pauline and brothers: Donald, Willard and Bill. An adventurous soul and avid traveler, her many careers took her to places including, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Indianapolis and New York. She retired after a number of years at the New Brunswick Community College, SJ. She was an active member of the Forest Hills Baptist Church, Probus and her Bible study group. She volunteered at the Saint John Food Bank, Canadian Cancer Society and The Heart and Stroke Foundation. Ruth had a zest for life, love of travel and enjoyed spending time with her family camping and reading a good book on the beach at Gardeners Creek. Resting at Brenan’s Funereal Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634 - 7424) visitation will be taking place on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 1-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service to be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 36 Mountain Rd, Saint John on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 12:00pm Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at the family’s request.
