Obituary of E. John Davies

Surrounded by his family the death of E. John Davies, husband of Joan Mary Davies occurred on June 16th, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on January 11, 1940 at Jedburgh, Scotland to the late Evan and Helen (Robson) Davies. John served in the British Army in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corp; He served during the insurrection in Yemen. Moving to Canada, He worked as an operator at the Irving Oil Refinery for many years until his retirement; and was a long time member of Jarvis Bay Legion, Branch #53. Besides his wife Joan; John is survived by five stepsons: Peter Marshall (Anna) of England, Thomas Marshall (Mary) of Montreal, Michael Marshall and Richard Graves (Terri) both of Saint John and Michael Graves (Michelle) of Edmonton, AB; brother, Gary Davies (Rita) of England; two sisters: Margaret Gunery (Mick) of England and Morag Hartt of Wales and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and stepson, Alvin Marshall. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A Celebration of his Life will be held at Bleachers Bar, Loch Lomond Road on Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 from 7 PM – 9 PM. For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Boys and Girls Club would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to Pam Cooke and the Extra Mural Team, Terri McIntyre, and Tracey Dalton (John’s granddaughter) who went the extra mile that was needed in this part of his journey of life.
