Obituary of L. Gerald Drew

L. Gerald (Gerry) Drew of Hampton, husband of Sandra (Munn) Drew, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on November 28, 1944, he was a son of the late Leonard Edgar and Ingrid Ellinor (Hansen) Drew. Gerald was a graduate of Simonds High School and Mount St. Vincent University, where he obtained a Diploma in Gerontology, and worked for the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, the 31st Service Battalion Barrack Green Armories, retiring as Sergeant, and was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69. He was Anglican by faith. In addition to his wife of 43 years, Gerry is survived by two sons, Tony Drew (Cathy) of Waasis, and Darren Drew of Saint John; a brother, Larry Drew (Margie) of Halifax; two sisters, Johanne McLeod (Neil) of Courtney, British Columbia, and Susan Gibson of Vancouver; three grandchildren, Erik Drew, Sarah Drew, and Hollie Erb; Alexandra (Allie) Janes (special little girl who adopted Gerry as her Puppie); several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:30 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
