Obituary of D. Arthur Waldron

D. Arthur Waldron of Saint John passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after bravely fighting a long illness. Born at Saint John on May 13, 1952, he was a son of Donald and H. Grace (Mawhinney) Waldron. Arthur was employed at Moosehead Breweries for 28 years. He was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, earning a Bachelor of Arts from the Saint John Campus, and a Bachelor of Education from the Fredericton Campus, and was active with the UNB Alumni Association. He enjoyed history, music, and geology. When he worked at Moosehead, he was a Past President of the Brewery and Soft Drink Workers Union, as well as a member of the Moosehead 25 Year Club. He was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church and an adherent of the Chance Harbour United Baptist Church. He was Vice-President of the Ostomy Support Group and during his regular visits to Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England, he attended the Probus Club. In addition to his parents, Arthur is survived by a sister, Margo Hall (Stephen) of Saint John, and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. Donald Waldron Jr. on January 6, 2009. Resting at Main Street Baptist Church, with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 PM from the church. Interment will take place in the Maces Bay Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Hospice of Saint John, the Hope Mission of Main Street Baptist Church, or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
