Obituary of Doreen Meltzer

Meltzer, Doreen - The death of Doreen Meltzer of Brentwood Towers, Saint John, NB, wife of the late William Meltzer, occurred unexpectedly on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at her residence. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Frances (Gillis) Whipple. Doreen graduated from St. Vincent’s High School and before her retirement worked for many years at CHSJ … TV and CFBC radio. She was past president of the Saint John Press Club and was Past President and a Charter Member of the Carleton Curling Club. She was a long time member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church and in more recent years a member of St. Pius X Church. Survived by her only daughter, Mary Ann Morgan (David) of Saint John; four grandchildren: Christine Ahearn (Jason), Wendy Morgan (Joe Harriman), Lesley and Mike Morgan; one great-granddaughter, Rachael Lynn Ahearn; two brothers, Jim Whipple (Joanne) of Kirkland Lake, ON and Dan Whipple (Lonnie) of Font Hill, ON; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her three brothers: Pat, Jack and Brian Whipple. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset St., Saint John on Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at 11 am. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to any charity of choice.
