Obituary of A. Pearle Peacock

The death of Amelia Pearle Peacock of Parks Street Ext., Saint John, wife of the late Frank E. Peacock, occurred on Sunday, April 8, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Giants Glen, NB, on November 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Clive and Clara E. (Keenan) Johnston. Pearle was an adherent of the Anglican Church and attended St. Barnabas all her married life and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the YMCA. In her earlier years, she devoted her time to her husband, son and her home in which she took great pride. Until last summer she worked tirelessly in her gardens, which were an immense source of joy and struggle for her. They were greatly admired by people in the area. After many years of domesticity she learned to drive, took up curling and golf. She was a member of Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club, from where she participated in many tournaments, and Westfield Golf Club, where she golfed with her pals Marg Bowen and Gerna Baker and often helped arrange flowers. She spent a few months each year in sunny Florida, where she made many friends and played innumerable rounds of golf – earlier, with her husband and after he passed away, by herself. Now she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge to join Casper, her beloved cat. She is survived by her son, Gregory Peacock and daughter-in-law Karen Morton of Lakelands, NS, one sister, Elsie Bovaird of Hampton, several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by one sister, Vinna White. By request, there will be no visiting at the funeral home. Memorial service will be held at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Private family interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated.
