Obituary of L. Phyllis Armstrong

The death of L. Phyllis Armstrong of Saint John West, wife to Raymond E. Armstrong of the Loch Lomond Villa, occurred on Friday, January 19, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on September 1, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Winnifred (Smith) Hickman Lingley and H. George Hickman. Mrs. Armstrong was a Veteran of World War II, serving as a Corporal with the CWAC. She was a member of the Grand Bay-Westfield Royal Canadian Legion Women’s Auxiliary, a member of T.O.P.S and was an active member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church. Besides her loving husband of 62 years, she is survived by her children: Sandra Gibbons (Chuck), Richard Armstrong (Lynda), Deborah Armstrong, Judith Wilkins (Steve), Phil Armstrong (Jan) all of Saint John; Wayne Armstrong (Judith) of Morrisdale, Christina Donner (Robert) of Woodman’s Point, Pam Bonar (Gerard) of Fredericton and two brothers; Robert Lingley (Frances) of Woodman’s Point and Edward Lingley (Nancy) of Dartmouth, NS, fifteen grandchildren; Dean, Tammy, Greg, Geoff, Trish, Scott, Trevor, Emily, Matthew, Evan, Jason, Jennifer, Ashley, Craig and Michael, five great granddaughters, sisters-in-law; Bertha Anderson (Don) of Blind River, ON, Inez Adams of Saint John and Rowena McKeeman of St. Stephen; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one brother, Sheldon McKeeman. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Jude’s Anglican Church, 319 Lancaster Street, Saint John West on Wednesday, January 24, 2007 at 2:00 PM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, St. Jude’s Anglican Church or the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation would be appreciated. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
