Obituary of Constance Norma Saunders

On December 31, 2006 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home, while peacefully holding hands with close friends and relatives by her side, Connie raised her arms, smiled and went to be with her beloved and only Myles. She was born in Saint John, daughter of the late William G. and Mary Jane (Rolston) Shippee and in her early years, Connie was a member of Central Baptist church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was very active in IODE throughout her life. She served as Past President of the N.B. Chapter from 1975 … 1978 and more recently as Area Vice-President in Fredericton. In recognition of her dedication and long service, Connie received a Life-time membership from her own chapter, Sir Leonard Tilly Chapter, as well as Life-time memberships from both the Provincial and National Chapters of the IODE. Although much of her married life was spent in Fredericton, Connie had returned to her hometown a few years ago to be closer to her family. She is survived by her brother Doug Shippee and his wife Susan; cousin David Fry and his wife Betty; special relatives Florence Fry, Faye and Hoyt Golding, Iris Bettle, Phyllis Bettle, Roseanne Martin, and Fred “Norman” Saunders and his wife Mary and; several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John. A memorial service and reception will be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 12, 2007 at 2:15 p.m., Reverend John Martin officiating.
