PATTERSON, John Donald Wesley … The death of John Donald Wesley Patterson of Saint John, NB, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Gilbert) Patterson, occurred on Monday, December 25, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 4, 1915 a son of the late Arvilla (Andrews) Patterson and the late John Wesley Patterson, who was killed overseas in the First World War. Don served for seven years with the rank of Captain with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps (1939-1945) and was later employed for twenty-five years with Ford Motor Company. He enjoyed sports, playing softball and hockey, which he coached at SJHS for several years; he played pro hockey on the Saint John Beavers team for seven years, prior to WW II. After retiring he spent over twenty winters in Florida where he was a member of Village Green Golf Club in Sarasota. Don was a member of the Royal United Service Institute and a past member of the Riverside Golf Club. Summers were spent in Kars on the Bellisle. He was Anglican by faith. Survived by his wife, Betty; step-son, Thomas (Sandra) Gomar of Quispamsis, NB; step-daughters: Jo Ann Rowe of Saint John, Patricia (Douglas) Trecartin of Lower Kars, NB and Teresa “Tere” Knudson (Paul Ferris) of Saint John; step-grandchildren: Gregory and Holly Knudson. Predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Wetmore; infant twin sons and infant daughter. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday from 7-9 pm. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Friday, December 29, 2006 at 2:30pm. Following cremation interment will be in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. www.brenansfh.com
