Obituary of Charles Fenwick ANDREWS

The death of Charles Andrews of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Elizabeth (Bacon) Andrews, occurred on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John the son of the late John “Pop” and Etta (Wheaton) Andrews. After a busy and varied career Charles retired from H.E. Kane Agencies in 1997. As an active member of Portland United Church, Charlie was the Chairperson of Session, past Congregational Treasurer, active in the Portland Men’s Club, recent organizer of the Portland United Church Christmas Cheer, founder of the Saint John District Church Hockey League and co-founder, with Rev. Ted Paw, of the Portland United Church Annual Golf Tournament. He was a board member of the North End Food Bank, and Newport Village, an avid bowler and enjoyed golfing. Survived by two sons, Michael (Cindy) Andrews and Dave (Lynn) Andrews, both of Saint John; one sister, Bernice Sheppard of Edmonton, AB; three grandchildren, Jeff (Vanessa) Andrews, Sandra (Andy) Scott and Jeffrey Rogers; brothers-in-law, Murray (Pat) Bacon and Dave Bacon; sister-in-law, Donna (Al) Conrad; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth in February 2005. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2006 from Portland United Church at 10 am. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice.
