Obituary of Peter D. McLaughlin

The death of Peter McLaughlin of Saint John, NB, husband of Marion (Lawrence) McLaughlin occurred on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Grand Falls, NB he was a son of the late Murray L. and M. Pearl (Watson) McLaughlin. Peter was employed at T.S. Simms & Co. for 33 years before his retirement in 2005. He was a member of Local #701 N.S.G.E.U. and enjoyed working on cars, baseball and enjoyed traveling and camping with his family. Besides his wife, Peter is survived by his son, Simon of Calgary, AB, two daughters: Julie Samarasekera (Sarath) of Calgary and Natalie Mersereau (Jeff Furlong) of Grand Bay-Westfield, four brothers: Roy (Valerie) and Alan (Nilda) of Ortonville, NB, Gary (Margaret) and Ronald (Carol) of Perth Andover, NB, one granddaughter, Amanda Mersereau, and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Peter was predeceased by a nephew, Joey McLaughlin. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) with visiting on Friday from 2 … 4 and 7 … 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Ortonville Baptist Church on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at 3:00 pm. Before the service family will receive friends from 2:00 - 2:45 pm at the church. Interment will be held in Ortonville Baptist Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
