Obituary of Betty Jane MacKinnon

Betty Jane (Hanson) MacKinnon passed away on September 1, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital of complications following surgery. Wife o f J. Claude MacKinnon, she was born in Fredericton, NB, daughter of Albert E. Hanson and Eva H. (Adams). Bett was active in her community including a very long association with her friends in the Bridge Club, her friends in the PAL’s group, and Past President of the Portland Ladies Liberal Association. She enjoyed her annual winter trips to Florida, her annual bus trips to New York, and her summer at her much loved cottage at Yoho Lake. But her greatest love was for her family, her husband, three sons, her daughter-in-laws, her grand children, her brothers, sisters and all her inlaws. She organized the house, the cottage, the holidays, Christmas dinners, meals, birthday parties, and kept a steady stream of information to all by means of E-mail and her countless lists of projects for her husband. She is survived by three sons, Michael (Mylene Drapeau), Peter (Annette), and Tim (Brenda); she was Nandy to her four beloved grandchildren Erin McAleenan, Ryan, Lindsay and Rachel MacKinnon; her two “adopted” grandchildren Jessalynn and Spenser; two sisters Marilyn (Jim Langille), Janice (John Blanchett); two brothers John Hanson and Richard (Sherry) Hanson; sisters-in-law Elaine (Rod MacGillivary, Shiela (Ron Yates), Tricia (Suzi), Mary Clare, Dr. Anna Marie, June MacKinnon (Harold, deceased); and brother-in-law Bill MacKinnon (Sharon Heading); twenty nieces and nephews; and an abundance of very good friends. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Homes, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday and Sunday, September 2 & 3, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 4, 2006 from The Church of St. John Baptist (Mission church) and St. Clement, Millidge Avenue at 2:00 pm. Remembrances may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
