Obituary of Exilia Marie Savoie

The death of Exilia “Cecile” Marie Savoie of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Omer Savoie, occurred on Monday, February 27, 2006 at the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home. Born in Neguac, NB a daughter of the late Gilbert and Rachel (Robichaud) Savoie she was a longtime resident of Saint John. Cecile was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Saint John West, a faithful member of Branch # 2 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed serving the Legion at any function when needed and a member of Port City Cloggers, into her 80's, having been featured in the local newspaper as the “Clogging Grandmother”. She was involved in many hobby crafts and spent summers trailering at Hardings Point, Westfield, NB. Enjoying traveling she made many visits to her place of birth to visit relatives and friends. Exilia always talked about her trips with the Legion and escapades with friends, Millie, Mary and Jean at various locations in the province. She was a very dedicated mother and grandmother and was most generous to family and friends in times of need. Dearly missed by sons, Gilbert (Marlene), Wilgar and Michael, all of Saint John; sister, Melina (Leo Butler ? deceased) of Saint John; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by two sons, Lucien (infant) and Louis; sisters: Marguerite, Florence and Leona; brothers: Vital, Alphonse, Thomas and Jeremie. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John West on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home, 185 Loch Lomond Rd., Saint John, NB E2J 3S3, or a charity of the donor's choice.
