Obituary of F. Lincoln B. Nice

The death of F. Lincoln B. Nice of Saint John, NB, husband of Davene (Webster) (Belyea) Nice and the late Margaret E. (MacKenzie) Nice, occurred on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in West Saint John a son of the late Hiram and Verna (Babington) Nice. Lincoln retired from the Department of National Revenue, Customs and Excise in 1978 after having worked in Saint John, Sault Ste. Marie and Ottawa, ON. He served overseas during World War II with the 8th New Brunswick Hussars and the 5th Division Assault Troop. He was a charter member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Jarvis Bay Branch # 53, Past Master of Saint John Masonic Lodge #2, a member of the Ancient and accepted Scottish Rite, Saint John Lodge of Perfection; Sault Ste. Marie Chapter of the Rose Croix and the Moore Sovereign Consistory of Hamilton, ON, Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Saint John Chapter # 14 O.E.S. and a member of the Federal Superannuates National Association. As a member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church, Lincoln served many years as a deacon and as a member of the Finance Committee. He and his wife also had been leaders of the Young People's Group. He was a kind and caring individual who really enjoyed meeting people, especially greeting them to the Sunday morning service. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: David L. (Marilyn) of Saint John and formerly of Bloomfield, NB, Frederick A. (Linda) and Perry A. (Cathy) both of Rothesay, NB; two sisters: Verna Lee of Bayswater and Agnes (James) Murdie of Westfield; one brother, Hiram (Janet) of Crawford Lake, NB; a sister-in-law, Beatrice Nice; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Michelle Cummings, Natacha Skinner, Andrew, Kenneth, Philip, Robert and Libby; six great grandchildren; five step-children: Brian, Larry and Anthony Belyea, Brenda Hill and Anne Folkins; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his first wife; three brothers: Arthur, Ralph and Frederick, who was killed in action in Italy in 1944; and one granddaughter, Elaine Margaret Nice. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Edith Avenue Baptist Church, on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at 1 pm with interment following in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Salvation Army or a charity of the donor's choice.
