Obituary of John Arthur Kyle

KYLE, JOHN A. “JACK”- The death of John Arthur “Jack” Kyle, of 40 Natalie Street, Saint John, husband of 50 years to Shirley E. (Logan) Kyle, occurred on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Arleigh and Pearl (McCracken) Kyle Jack was a Fire Fighter with the City of Saint John for 35 years before retiring as District Chief. He coached North End Little League, his beloved Yankees, for 31 years, winning numerous Provincial and Maritime Championships. Jack also coached Minor Hockey and High School Hockey for many years and was voted Saint John Sportsperson of the Year in 1984. Since his retirement, Jack enjoyed spending time at his camp. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by three sons; Peter (Cheryl) of Saint John, Paul of Saint John and Terry (Kathy) of Perth Andover, daughter-in-law, Janet Kyle of Hampton, two brothers; James Kyle (Marilyn) of Saint John and Eddie Kyle VanTassel (Patria) of Santa Barbara, CA, one sister, Lorna Zelward (Ronald) of Baxters Corner, nine grandchildren; Shannon, Lindsay, Mallory, Courtenay, Curtis, Cara, Connor, Logan and Abigail, one great grandson; Landen, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Robert Kyle and one sister, Audrey Gates. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-8 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. John Baptist (Mission Church) St. Clement, Millidge Avenue, Saint John on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Fire Department Burn Unit, Muscular Dystrophy Association or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
