Obituary of Gladys M. McGrath

The death of Gladys May (Mercer) McGrath of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Edward L. McGrath, occurred on Saturday, October 1, 2005 at the Church of the St. John & St. Stephen Home. Born in Upham, NB, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Viola (McLellan) Mercer. Gladys is survived by six sons: Stephen (Doris) McGrath, Wayne McGrath, Fred (Patti) McGrath, Paul McGrath, Peter McGrath and Arthur McGrath all of Saint John; four daughters: Diane (Blaine) McRae of Saint John, Phyllis (Bill) Titus, Gail (Stephen) Brideau both of Rothesay and Gladys McGrath of Saint John; two brothers: Sterling (Evelyn) Mercer, Gordon (Madeline) Mercer both of Hampton; four sisters: Grace Grass of Fredericton, Beatrice Moran of Hampton, Eleanor Cusack of Maugerville, NB, and Jessie (Chuck) O'Brien of Ottawa; one brother-in-law, Charles Myerscough of Ontario; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Mercer of Bloomfield and Suzzan Morrison of Hampton; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by two sons, Edward, Terry, three brothers: Chestley, Warren and Edmond, one sister, Dorothy Myerscough. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
