Obituary of R. Maxwell Winters

The death of Robert Maxwell “Max” Winters of 54 Mountain Road, Saint John East, husband of Arline (Webster) Winters, occurred unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, in Brookfield Hospital, Wesleyville, Newfoundland. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late George and Ethel (Snow) Winters. Max was an Industrial Mechanic at Lantic Sugar for 24 years and later worked at Irving Paper for 16 years before his retirement in 1990. He was an avid hockey enthusiast, being a great fan of the Detroit Red Wings and the Saint John Flames where he was a member of the Igniters Fan Club. Max was a big supporter of and coached the Industrial Hockey Leagues, volunteered with the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign and was a member of Local 601 Paper worker's Union. Besides his wife, he is survived by three brothers, Roland of Gambo, NL, Walter (Mary) of Wesleyville, NL and Dr. George (Gloria) of St. John's, NL, four sisters, Verna Isnor (Harold) of Hampton, Lena Rogers (Eric) of Pool's Island, NL, Susie Wilkins of Gander, NL and Jessie Freake (Bill) of Wesleyville, NL, several cousins, nieces, nephews and his special pal “Sugar Plum”. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Forest Hills United Baptist Church, on Monday, June 13, 2005 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
