Obituary of E. M. Marjorie Dunlop

The family of Marjorie Dunlop, wife of the late Charles Dunlop, are saddened to announce her passing, on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Shannex Parkland. Born on July 19, 1926, Marjorie was a daughter of the late W.W. Russell and Ada Mae (Morrow) O’Donnell. Marjorie was employed with Hope Grant Insurance for 32 years before becoming owner and partner in Dunlop Enterprises with her husband of 52 years, Charles. She enjoyed travelling as well as spending summers in St. Martins and wintering in Florida. Marjorie took great joy in entertaining and loved cooking for her family and friends. Marjorie was a member of Full Gospel Assembly, and was actively involved in Mission groups. She was a great fan of Blue Jays baseball. In July, Marjorie enjoyed her 90th birthday party with her family. Marjorie is survived by her siblings: Georgina Moore (late Bob), Marilyn (Tom) Kilpatrick, Ray (Katie) O’Donnell, Hudson (Phyllis) O’Donnell, Paul (Ruth) O’Donnell, David (Narda) O’Donnell, Colleen (Raymond) Bennett, Ruth (Robert) Waddell and Wanda (Wayne) Tidd, her sisters-in-law: Bessie O’Donnell, Aggie O’Donnell and Nora O’Donnell along with many nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Marjorie was the last surviving and beloved aunt to Greg (Peggy) Dunlop, Larry (Kim) Dunlop, Heather Dunlop, Pamela (Glenn) Cooke and Scott (Anastassia) Dunlop and families. Besides her parents and husband, Charles, Marjorie was predeceased by her brothers: Hutch, Ernest and Frank O’Donnell and most recently her sister-in-law Joyce (late Lawson) Dunlop. Marjorie’s family would especially like to thank the staff of Howe Hall and recently Tucker Hall in Parkland for their care of Marjorie during her time with them. Throughout Marjorie’s life, her love for her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, was evident in the way she lived her life and set a great example for us all to follow. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) visitation will be Thursday, October 20 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Her Funeral Service will be held at Full Gospel Assembly, 34 Mt Pleasant Ave East, on Friday, October 21 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at Charlton Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to charity of donor’s choice.
