Obituary of A. Joyce Wilkes-Losier

With appreciation for a life well-lived, the family of Joyce Wilkes-Losier announces her passing into the kingdom of heaven, which occurred peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Public Landing, NB on February 24, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred H. and Alice M. (Harrington) Wilkes. She was a loving wife to the late J. Felix Losier who passed away in 2009. Joyce had devoted her life to serving God, and had always been very involved in Mission Church, which she had attended for many wonderful years. She was a member of the Guild of St. Monica and was also a member of the choir and volunteer for the Senior Resource Centre. In her earlier years, she graduated from Modern Business College and worked for the city of Saint John as a secretary for Nick Nicolle for many years. She was a talented organist, and loved to share her gift of music. Joyce also enjoyed skating, travelling – especially her memorable trip to Bermuda that she told many stories about, and swimming. Her late husband, Felix, made sure she had her very own pool at their home in Westfield. Joyce will be missed by a sister, Evelyn Hardie (Charlie); her niece, Nona L. Mitton; her late husband’s children and their families; as well as her church family. In addition to her parents and husband, Joyce was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Bell-Watson, and an infant brother, Douglas Wilkes. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the management and staff of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home – especially Nicki Hamburg, Kim Brown, Nicole Gaudet, and all those who took such compassionate care of Joyce every day. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick (634-7424). A funeral service will be held at St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement’s, 819 Millidge Avenue, Saint John on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service, from 11:00 – 1:00 pm. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to any charity of the donor’s choice.
