Obituary of M. Albina Trafton

The death of Albina Trafton of Saint John and formerly of Chance Harbour, beloved wife of the late Alvin Trafton occurred on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Turnbull Nursing Home. Born on October 24, 1919 in Saint-Basile, NB, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Delima (Jalbert) Martin. Albina was a member of the Women’s Institute of Chance Harbour. She loved surrounding herself in nature and in her younger years enjoyed fly fishing. She was an avid skier and along with her husband Alvin, instructed skiing. Sailing was very much a family passion and Albina spent many funfilled years with her family and friends on SURA, cruising the St. John River and the coast of Maine. She and her husband were longtime members of the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club. Albina always looked forward to family gatherings and those dear to her will always remember her excellent cooking and gracious hosting. She will be sadly missed. Albina is survived by her children, Susan Moore (Brian) and Aaron Trafton (Margie) all of Saint John; brother, Fernald Martin of Montreal; sisters, Estelle Martin of Montreal and Theresa Doucette (Emril) of Connecticut; granddaughter, Cathleen Trafton of Saint John; sister-in-law, Lucille of Massachusetts; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Albert, Hector, Edgar, Roger and Zoel. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Pius X Church on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 11: 00 AM. Interment will take place in Maces Bay Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the YMCA of Greater Saint John, Miramichi Salmon Association, Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue or a charity of the donor’s choice.
