Obituary of Doris Elizabeth McNeil

With the utmost respect, we announce the death of our beloved mother, Doris McNeil, cherished wife of the late Gerard "Gerry" McNeil, which occurred on Thursday, September 8, 2016 surrounded by her family at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born on March 8, 1915 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Myrtle (Myles) Osborne. Doris is survived by her children, Norman McNeil (Ethel) of Saint John, Sally BeLong (Norman) of Moncton and Timothy McNeil (the late Brenda) of Saint John; seven grandchildren, Mary Lynn Clarke (Dr. Andrew), Mark McNeil (Darlene) and David McNeil (Heather) all of Saint John, John BeLong (Sara) of Fredericton, Michael BeLong (Jennifer), Jerry BeLong (Barb) and Susan Marshall (Todd) all of Moncton; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, husband and daughter-in-law, Doris was also predeceased by her son, Daniel McNeil and brother, Frederick "Freddy" Osborne (Blanche). Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, which will be immediately followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM, all from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
